If you haven’t quite got round to buying anything for Mothers day yet, don’t worry it’s not too late! Why trawl round the shops for the same old same old, when you can get your mum a lovely experience that she will treasure forever?
Here are my top 5 picks of experience related locally sourced gifts that your mum is bound to love:
A cookery class at Angela Gray Cookery School
Does your mum love to cook? Why not book her on to one of the classes run by Angela Gray in the delightful setting of Llanerch Vineyard. Angela Gray’s school has been voted into the Top 10 UK Cookery Schools by the Independent and the Telegraph. Courses range from baking to perfecting pasta to Thai. I tried the Easter Cookery course and it was brilliant. 100% recommend the classes.
They have a selection of full day and evening courses that you can choose from and you can buy gift vouchers towards any of the classes from £5.00. All vouchers are valid for 12 months. See www.angelagray.co.uk for more information
A family photo-shoot with Gemma Griffiths Photography

Why not have a family photo shoot across the generations. Capturing you all together will be something forever treasured, especially if you have little ones as they grow up so quickly! Or why not have a mother and daughter photo shoot to celebrate the bond between you.
Gemma Griffiths offers location photo shoots which are in the most gorgeous outdoor settings, more than just a studio photo shoot, her images are truly beautiful and she is wonderful at capturing the bond between families in her photos.
Family Photo shoot packages start from £350. For more information visit www.gemagriffithsphotography.co.uk
Afternoon Tea at the Celtic Manor
Treat your mum to an indulgent afternoon tea at the impressive 5* Celtic Manor Resort with delicious finger sandwiches, yummy scrummy cakes and fluffy scones. You can upgrade to a Prosecco afternoon tea to make it even more special. Afternoon tea takes place in the Garden Room where you will have stunning views out across the Roman Road golf course and in the summer months, weather permitting, you can even sit outside. You can read my review from when I took my mum to the Celtic Manor for tea here.
Gift vouchers for two can be purchased online at £59 for Saturday & Sunday or £43 for midweek. Vouchers remain valid for 6 months. For more information visit www.celtic-manor.com
Wine tasting and a Tour of Glyndwr Vineyard, Llanblethian
Glyndwr Vineyard is the oldest and largest established vineyard in Wales and supply their wine to the likes of Waitrose, Sainsburys and delis such as Wallys in Cardiff. With beautiful grounds and free range chickens and ducks roaming the vineyard, your mum will be transported to France.
On a vineyard tour your mum will be treated to wine tasting, followed by a personally conducted tour of the vineyard finishing off with a freshly prepared platter of quiche, rustic breads and welsh cheeses, all with wine of course! The cost of the tour is £36 per person for which vouchers can be purchased on the website www.glyndwrvineyard.co.uk
A pampering spa day package at the Vale Hotel
The Vale Spa really is one of my favourites, it has so many different relaxation rooms you are completely spoilt for choice. From the chill out zone with comfy leather sofas and magazines to the more tranquil zone with water beds and water features to the Indian inspired zone where you can wrap up in cosy quilts and have a doze, it really does have it all.
The treatments are wonderful too, think relaxing massages and rejuvenating facials. Spa Day packages start from £99 per person and include 90 minutes of treatment time along with full use of the Spa and resort facilities. For further information visit www.vale-hotel.com
